Vote Esperanto as an answerable question on Change.gov

There are open questions to the Obama administration on Change.gov. This is really Change.gov this time

Search for Esperanto and vote.

If anything we can bring Esperanto to the light and ears of the new Administration. I am expecting that only Americans can vote, but I do not know for sure.

Yes, this is on the actual .gov site. It is still a mystery if any of the requests on either site will be put into action, but it is still great that Esperanto might be brought into the public eye.

It doesn't ask if you are a citizen or even live in the US so everyone should contribute. It looks like there is already an Esperanto idea, although it's rating is not looking good.

I got an email earlier today from firstbook.org (a nonprofit group that put one of their ideas on the change.org board) that seems to clarify what change.org is up to:

"The top 10 ideas are going to be presented to the Obama Administration on Inauguration Day and will be supported by a national lobbying campaign run by Change.org, MySpace, and more than a dozen leading nonprofits after the Inauguration. So each idea has a real chance at becoming policy."

On the other hand, the most popular questions on the .gov site, the one run by the transition team, are actually being answered by the Obama team. Do with that information what you will. rideto.gif

Speaking of which, I got an email today from change.gov saying that the proposal to teach Esperanto as a foreign language in schools in now 3rd (again) and will make it into the second round of voting if it stays at least 3rd.

It sounds like a great idea!
God I love Obama. Just how he will actually hear our ideas...bush and other presidents never had anything like this (having ideas presented to him)

I really hope they put esperanto in schools, it's one step closer to having an international language which is something the world needs.
