I notice that they pronounce their vowels with a certain "twang", as if these were French and English vowels (e.g., "e" sounds like "ej"). Also, they also tend to stress the last syllable, instead of the penultimate syllable. Well, I could say that this film is not for beginners who are looking for models to imitate. I would like to suggest "Angoroj", with its Esperantist cast. You can watch it here, well, at least the first part: "Angoroj", with Waringhien as narrator.

biff2kplus1:Whenever things are translated its typically for meaning and no for a direct translation. However I found a line that is completely different.LOL! That is really funny!!!
After Marco and Kia romp through the river and start making out in the woods, Kia wants to get freaky and Marco wants to go back to the village.
Marco says "Mi volas havi infanon." but the english subtitles say "[I want to do this] the right way." I think thats definitely more than a missed translation. In EO, he's saying "I wanna get married and have kids" and in EN he's saying "I wanna do it in my bed and not in the woods."
Just thought that was kinda funny.
But why did they do that?! Cencorship?

biff2kplus1:To me the EN meant "I want to get married, not roll around in the woods with you."

Marco is supposed to be a pure, good man and this film was made in the 60s.

The main obstacle to creating the standalone subtitles is matching the timing up to the relevant version
Ironchef:I was working on a project to put Esperanto subtitles onto Blade Runner but then realized that even though the translation was my own work, it would still be a violation of copyright if I ever released it. It is frustrating that copyright does prevent learning sometimes but there are reasons for it which I well understand.
