I didn't grow up with computers and mobile phones. If I wanted to find out about something then the library was my first destination. Nowadays, I use a computer daily and depend on it for all sorts of things.
Now that I've started to learn Esperanto, the Internet, and social networking sites in particular, are proving to be amazing resources.
Where I live there are few Esperantists in the locality and they meet infrequently. I hope to attend the next meeting in March, but what can I do to interact with practising Esperantists in the meantime?
Well, it seems that I can connect with Esperantists worldwide via sites like this (although it's not exclusively a social networking site) and a whole host of others. That's just fantastic!

Of course, Lernu itself has the best Esperanto forum in the business!

RiotNrrd:Ipernity is a social networking site like Facebook that has an enormous number of Esperanto speakers on it. You might want to check it out.Are there any other notable Esperanto forums out there?

ILuvEire: I was told about this Esperanto Twitter Group yesterday. Also, there's a Usenet group , accessible via Google Groups, that I subscribed to.

Ah, and Ipernity has a really nice translation to Esperanto, even better than facebook.

Now, even though Ipernity isn't so friendly and does not have that woooonderful map, it gives many interesting possibilities. Because of Ipernity's blog, now we have maaaany things been written in Esperanto about everything! Many local and cultural aspects of real life are being written there, and it is undoubtedly enriching our literature.
