I was curious about the word used for an automobile's horn. I know the word "hupi" is used for "honk", but I wasn't sure about the noun.

Cxu oni hupas "hupon" aux hupas "hupilon" or another word?

According to Reta Vortaro, it's hupo. Hup- is a noun root.

From my dictionary:

hub n. 1. aksingo n. 2. nabo n.

Komputada leksikono also has nabo.

According to PIV2002, hupo is the horn itself, and hupilo is the gadget/switch/etc for sounding the horn:

hupo = sona avertilo (nun elektra) de veturilo
hupilo = hupoŝaltilo
