ceigered:@ miland - maybe we should also plant disinformation
That could be a good idea - plans for weapons which don't work! But inventors can be persistent. Many rockets blew up till they finally got it right. And now we have ICBMs!

ceigered:e.g."if someone kills .. a terrible event will occur.."
Putting that in Genesis 9:6 doesn't seem to have been too successful. On the other hand, warnings about radiation sickness might put off amateur A-bomb makers.

ceigered:has this already been "done" before..?
Could be, but since we have no physical evidence of "Atlantis", we can only determine not to screw everything up as they might have done!

Georgia Guidestones

WOW! I can't believe I've never heard of this before. It certainly isn't something you see every day!!! shoko.gif

I read of these a couple months ago—I forget where. Note that the third of the ten exhortations is “Unite humanity with a living new language” lango.gif

Although I disagree with the first two items on the list, it’s really too bad that it was vandalized (and as of now has not been repaired): see a picture.

Yes, this is the kind of thing I had in mind!

Here is something that couid be relevant. Pottery over 17,000 years old. Now the fabled land of Atlantis according to the reckoning of the ancient Greeks would be about 10,000 years old. So these artefacts could go back to a civilisation that was completely destroyed!

SO, if we want to preserve something that will outlast even the sort of cataclysm that could destroy an Atlantis...

No matter what kind of capsule we will be making, better not make just one. The more we make, the bigger the chance that one of them will last very long.

Rogir:"..better not make just one."
I agree, the more numerous and varied the attempts, the better. But we also have to ask : what kind of things are likely to survive? The sphinx (if it goes back to before the pharaohs) got defaced, the pyramids got stripped of their marble covering, anything that looks like gold will be plundered .. but coins, seals, pieces of pottery and rock inscriptions and paintings in remote caves might have a chance!

I think the best way to hide these things is as something 'pointless' as far as war-crazy tribes are concerned, like an egg, fossil or large bird dropping.

Yes, in fact secret agents have used rocks which could screw apart to reveal the contents. The problem then is how to make sure they are discerned for what they are when the time is ripe.
