Interesting stuff.
I'm sure I remember reading that studies in Wales showed that children who grow up bilingual gain definite educational advantages, especially in maths for some reason.
Certainly, it is my experience that children coming from overseas who have to learn English as a second language also seem able to pick up Welsh more quickly than monoglot English speakers.
