Within 7 days, there have been 9 long positive articles about Esperanto in the media, mostly from big players like the BBC, the German public TV, Deutsche Welle, the Times Online... This is a round-up of the articles and of course the underlying questions: why Esperanto? Why now?

Well, I think the reason for that mediatic attention is obvious: this year marks 150 years of the birth of Zamenhof. The press loves those jubilees.

By the way, the main Brazilian weekly news magazine, Veja, has published a favorable article on Esperanto this week too, but only in its online version: in Portuguese.

Thank you very much for the link, Vilinilo! I just added it to the article.

I think the jubilee can't be the main reason for the attention though, because most articles don't mention it.

The reason why they appear now is because the UK and many other congresses are taking place. They are very visible and the organisation usually tries to get some media attention too. And of course, journalist copy each other all the time.
