ceigered:well, i don't see the need in protesting..To protest one should have genuine conviction about the matter.
Pharoah:I think it would be better to be friendly with them than to "protest".Have you written them a friendly message?
andogigi:I suggest we wait and see if they speak the language or notHave you written to them in English to find out?

Have you written to them in English to find out? It's a German site. We need someone who speaks German if we want to be polite .

Miland:A fine idea Miland. This is what I'm going to send them, in English and Esperanto. (I once saw a T-shirt that said, "Mi parolas kaj la anglan kaj la esperanton. Se vi ne komprenas, mi ne kulpas) If someone could correct my bad Esperanto, it would be greatly appreciated. I have very little confidence.

Saluton!
Mi ĵus trovis vian retpaĝon kaj mi ĝojas multe. Mi neniam sciis tio estas "Hotel Esperanto" kaj mi volus ekscii plu. (Mi pardonpetas sed mi neniel komprenas la germanan lingvon)
Dankon antaŭe,
Johano Anderson
Hello!
I just found your webpage and I was very happy. I never knew there was a "Hotel Esperanto" and I would like to find out more. Does everyone at your hotel speak Esperanto or only a few employees? How many stars do you have? Are you close to a large city? Do you have a list of your rates and room categories? (I apologize but I do speak German at all)
Thanks in advance,
Jon Anderson

andogigi:Do you have a list of your rates and room categories? (I apologize but I do speak German at all)1. You forgot the accusative in this sentence
2. "I apologize but I do not speak any German at all"
Man the American spelling throws me though, it's too unsophisticated and not complicated enough
But, holy crap (sorry if that offends anyone), I never expected this to become an issue of importance - I mean, it's just a name, it's not like they've committed a crime or copyright infringement. And how do you know you didn't just find a Portuguese style hotel, eh? (esperando = waiting ). I say just let them have their peace, after all it's no fair spamming the fellas with non-work related things (e.g. book actual customers in not being enticed to learn Esperanto).
I swear though that there is some language with the word 'esperanto' meaning 'hope' or 'to wait'... Just can't remember In spanish it's Esperanza, so no go there.... argh stupida memoro
Oh btw - they're not the only 'Esperantists' by name:
Esperanto NY Restaurant
Esperanto Cafe (also NY)
Oh and I know I shouldn't be egging people on but... Put in a 'German' translation in broken plaatdeutsch or bayerisch

What did you say to them Miland (or don't I want to know? )?
BTW don't know if it will show up right, but This image shows the restaurant exterior - they've even gone for the whole green paint job

Pharoah:Let's .. maybe just gently nudge them in the direction of the language, OK?By all means, don't let me stop you!
