Alright so I quit learning/studying Esperanto for a couple of weeks because of vacation, school, sports, etc.

Well now I'm starting back up and I'm teaching my brother as well. Now, I'm really rusty on the language and I'm just wondering how I should review? What would be the most effective way?

Also, how should I go about teaching my brother Esperanto? Right now I'm just making powerpoints/worksheets and making him do them. I am going to practice with him once he learns enough to carry on a conversation..Any suggestions?

My brother and I are learning it because it's going to be our 'secret' language...lol

Thanks for the advice in advance!

If he's younger than you, then these might be helpful:
* A child's introduction to Esperanto: http://thebegavalley.org.au/uploads/media/Kidboo...
* Printable posters (think ABC's and colors): http://www.springboard2languages.org/home.htm#po...
* Courses for children: http://en.lernu.net/kursoj/porinfanaj.php

It would be good to have some audio to go along with your lessons:
* Mi Estas Komencanto audio files: http://en.lernu.net/kursoj/mek/mp3.php
* Snow White in Esperanto with audio: http://en.lernu.net/biblioteko/rakontoj/gfabeloj...

Games are always good:
* Lernu! games: http://en.lernu.net/lernado/ludoj/index.php
* Esperanto game site: http://ludanto.org/
* RPG available in Esperanto: http://cantr.net/index.php?page=intro&l=8

He may respond well to different learning styles:
* Esperanto with English translations, followed once again by Esperanto:http://en.lernu.net/biblioteko/franko/index.php
* Pictures+Text: http://en.lernu.net/kursoj/bkd/index.php

I had never seen Cantr before, so I looked into it and made a character who is now digging for potatoes and making bone needles in the area where he poofed into existence, as best I can tell. I'm a bit on the confused side so far, but having read and comprehended most of the notes I found on the ground, here's hoping it at least serves as a nice practicing tool.

Oddly, Ludanto.org is apparently blocked by my college's filter. It must be full of some racey stuff. okulumo.gif For whatever real reason it tripped it, I'll have to check it out through a proxy later.

Since I'm just getting back into the swing of studying again, these were handy resources.

lango.gif Well, Backgammon is one racey game!

I malamegas school and university level filters, the block out everything from sesame street to youtube. And there was talk of having a country-wide internet filter in Australia not long ago too - blimey!

that's terrible! once they start censoring the internet our civilization is doomed to fall into tyranny. People should have the freedom to speak, listen, ignore, and to ignore other propaganda while making their own judgment.

Universities on the otherhand, are paying for there internet, and if they want their bandwidth to be used for education instead of ones own pleasure, that is completely up to them. (although it would be nice if I could play wow at MRU. Maybe i could tell them that it is educational since i'm using it to learn languages!)

But... we're paying them! rideto.gif

And quite frankly I don't feel too sympathetic towards universities. The old local primary school with the 200yr old assembly hall? Oh no what a disaster, let's help out and make sure the local council doesn't get it demolished. The giant town-sized complex with expressive art all over the place and 50 odd fraternity/student societies with more more than they know what to do with? Meh. lango.gif

Educators often forget that they are employees, and that students (and their parents) are the employers.

Well... I still don't need a proxy server to read lernu.net, but the Chinese government is making me use one to access facebook. I wish someone could explain the logic of that one to me.

Because Facebook is more private (e.g. you can have conversations without everyone knowing what you are saying) and it's from the US, meaning anything the Chinese govt. disagrees with/anything that disagrees with the Chinese govt. could be found on there and they don't have total control.

Lernu however is pretty much public and not really 'based' in the US. Or the censors don't even know lernu exists, in which case thats somewhat sad lango.gif
