(Beforehand, I beg your pardon for my bad english)

The big american website of "social language learning", livemocha.com has already begun to create a lesson of Esperanto !

... But it's not ready yet. It seems that it needs your votes, your ratings, for any exercice and any translation, before it will be confirmed, and before it will appear on the website !

Therefore : we all have to give our vote to each esperanto exercice that is still in "beta", in order that the esperanto lesson will appear on the website as soon as possible !!

METHOD:
- Sign up for the website (it's as free and as secure as "lernu!").

- Indicate "ESPERANTO" among your spoken languages (in the category which is titled "I speak", select "esperanto" - at the bottom of the list - and indicate that your skill is at least "advanced".

- Then, go to the homepage

- And look at the bottom right : There, you will see the title "Rate a Member Translation", and below it the translations proposed for the future esperanto lesson !

- Then click (each time) on the words "View more", to see the following propositions of translation, etc... until you will be bored^^ (you can stop when you want, okulumo.gif the goal is just to make esperanto an "obvious" language, thanks to your ratings, on this popular website.)

IMPORTANT :

- NEVER VOTE or CLICK on the ARROW WHICH POINTS THE BOTTOM
- SELECT ONLY the arrows which point the top (or, at least, don't select any arrow, if you don't like the propositions)
- BECAUSE that's the only way for the number of votes to grow up, and for the esperanto lesson to appear soon on the website !

BEFOREHAND, THANKS A LOT !
Thanks to you, we will be able to learn esperanto very soon on one of the hugest language-learning site in the world !!

Well... Click on the down arrow if the text or speech is wrong. I have found some errors. Making Esperanto obvious is a good goal, but we want the lessons to be correct too!

You're right, but most of time there is at least one correct proposition... if the rating of the incorrect one is zero, I think it's sufficient okulumo.gif Just give your vote to the correct sentences... But do what you think is good, of course okulumo.gif

Have a good day !

... or, better : add a better translation ! (you just have to write before to the webmaster to do that : mt@livemocha.com !)

Cheers for this info Artichaut72, I'm already on Livemocha and have been waiting for the beta of the EO lessons to come out (not that I need them as much as I've got lernu for all my practice) but still I'll try and do what you said.

I've been rating translations, but... I've emailed them twice over the last month or so, still haven't received any info about adding translations. malgajo.gif

Well I forgot about this until today when I was voting to try and get Livemocha on the iPhone (I swear that's almost my main 'computer' at the moment).

And the EO course is now complete. Just not on the list of languages you can learn yet (I think they plan to release a whole bunch at once).

Next one to wait for (as far as I'm concerned at least): Norwegian Bokmål lango.gif

I definitely saw translations there that were flat-out wrong. And also translations that seemed to me to be overly literal translations from English. I hope those didn't make it into the final version.

This goes to show again that translation is best done by a professional, into the translator's native language. Both are usually not the case with Esperanto. Nevertheless, I am glad with this new small step for Esperanto!

@ erinja: that wouldn't surprise me at all. Normally those errors get voted out by the community though (or by users) so hopefully when it's up and running (if it isn't already) some eoists will go and fix up anything that's wrong.
@ rogir: I concur.
