Rogir:Argh you just felt telling me I was wrong didn't you?Because the -n is for the accusative direct object only.Wrong. Accusative case is also used after prepositions when it indicates a movement (like the difference in/into). That's why you should also have dikfingroj supren.
You're correct though and cheers for pointing out my silly mistake, I must of been half asleep (it's funny though considering I use '-n' in the way you described sometimes, e.g. Mi iras hejmen.). Sorry LyzTyphone for my misinformation!
So I take it that it should have been 'en vian orelon' instead of 'en via orelo' or are both correct with 'en vian orelon' being more precise?
Anyway, dikfingroj supren por Rogir (kaj Tommjames)
@ Tommjames re the difference between paroli/diri:
Cheers mate, one more question, what kind of object can paroli have? E.g. can you say "Li parolis 'Saluton miaj karaj amikoj' angle" or do you have to say "Li diris 'Saluton miaj karaj amikoj' angle" for such a construction?
I remember hearing that possibly chinese lacks the transitivity distinction that some major English verb pair has, can't remember if that was look/see (rigardi/vidi) or speak/say.
And cheers all for the info about flustri

E.g. can you say "Li parolis 'Saluton miaj karaj amikoj' angle" or do you have to say "Li diris 'Saluton miaj karaj amikoj' angle" for such a construction? If you're going to specify the actual words that came out his mouth then I'd say diri is the right verb, although I find it hard to imagine you'd be at all misunderstood if you used paroli. Generally though the object of paroli is a description of the essence or type of thing that is spoken, as in mi parolas la anglan, il parolis sensencaĵon etc, quoting the actual words said may be too much a break from that to be considered a valid direct object, although that's just my non-100% sure opinion and I may well be wrong.
If you wanted to convey both that he spoke, as well as the words that he said, I would say something along the lines of Li parolis al la grupo dirante "Saluton al miaj karaj amikoj".
