There was a quirky gmail commercial awhile ago that the punchline was that you would have more time to do important things, and then the head engineer whips out an esperanto book and says "like learn esperanto"!

I'm excited about this. I wonder what kind of logo they would come up with.

btw, whenever I here Americans say Esperanto it sounds like esper-'unt'-o and I've always said it esper-'ant'-o (as in english unt and ant), I know I sometimes make my 'a's a bit over nasal (all the pronunciation guides say "as in father" but I'm inclined to say it closer to 'can') the guy in the video is getting it wrong right? Otherwise I really need to work on my accent.

I think the best way to pronounce Esperanto is like the pope does, with a clear Italian a.

I dunno... the google guy's "a" sounds okay to me. But the "r" is wrong. (Though I often pronounce the "r" that way. I really dislike trilled/rolled/whatever "r".)

(More offtopic: The teacher for a Russian course I took in college was from Brooklyn. I don't think we ever managed to convince her that she had an accent. We'd pronounce words *exactly* like she did and she'd say No No No, like this, and we'd do it again, and she'd say No No No, like this, so we'd pronounce them not like she did but like on the audio tapes and she'd say Good.)
