We'd pronounce words *exactly* like she did and she'd say No No No, like this, and we'd do it again, and she'd say No No No, like this, so we'd pronounce them not like she did but like on the audio tapes and she'd say Good.)Ega LOL! I take it she wasn't Russian?

But only because I roll r's naturally. Voice recognition software (like brain Training) can't understand scots accents, especially when saying the word "red".And if that's not offtopic i don't know what is.

We really do have more than one vowel - it's just that we TEND to use schwas a little more than we probably ought to.RiotNrrd:That's because we americans only have one vowel - the schwa.Pronouncing "up", "sun" and "love" with a schwa just sounds weird. It doesn't sound American, it just sounds weird.
Overusing schwas is by far the easiest way to talk without moving our lips more than we absolutely have to.

- Glottal stops replacing T, K, D, and anything else of the nature
- Replace 'k' with a light 'ĥ' in between vowels in quick speech
- Replace 'g' with a harder 'y' kind of sound
- Getting rid of the 'r' after vowels when there's a consonant after (ah' not art
)- Pronouncing 'n's without actually touching behind your teeth.
- Pronouncing the 'a' in class, glass, bath etc like you do the 'a' in 'father', thus further widening the use of the 'ah' sound.
- Have further forward 'u's so you don't have to worry about stressing the differences between 'o/aw' sounds and 'u' sounds.

ljbookworm:As a scotswoman, I think rolled r's are the best part of esperanto.I think there is software that understands Scottish English. Dictate apparently can.
