I wanted to say Happy Solstice but I couldn't find a word for it. Would mezvintro be appropriate? Or, maybe something like sunrevenado?

Mi kredas, ke ankaŭ la vorto "sunrevenado" plaĉas al mi.

I think that I like the word "sunrevenado" as well.

According to Vikipedio it's "solstico."

Nevertheless, mezvintro would be better understood. Solstico is hardly a beginner word.

Why use the prefix "mez" if winter has just started? demando.gif

Because we speak of the winter solstice and it is "habitually" the middle (mezo) of the winter season.

Don't forget that in such wishes you use the accusative, so you'd say "Feliĉan Solsticon!" (which is just an abbreviation of "mi deziras feliĉan solsticon al vi", in which phrase you do of course use the accusative).

Ok. That MIGHT not be correct for everyone.

I have been always said that winter solstice is the BEGINNING of winter (Summer, in case of the summer solstice)

Then, equinox would be the BEGINNING of spring season (or Autumn if we're talking about the Autumn equinox)

Have a look: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solstice

Where it is explained that
WIKIPEDIA:The solstices, together with the equinoxes, are connected with the seasons. In some cultures they are considered to start or separate the seasons while in others they fall in the middle.
Interesting confusion lango.gif

Maybe the word "mezvintro" is not the best one so as to express that idea. senkulpa.gif
