Hey, apparently the cavemen from the geico commerncials are esperantistoj. If you go to cavemancrib.com, which is their apartment tour, on their fridge is esperanto word magnets.

Yeah, that's wicked! That, to me, shows a company that cares (not for the esperanto part as much as attention to detail).

Too bad whoever did the wording was obviously working from a dictionary and didn't speak the language, though.

It's cool that they even had the idea to do this, even if they didn't get the language right!

Yeah, it’s cool, but what does Esperanto mean for them? Sophistication? They put it there in the middle of an aseptic, minimalist and sort of futurist kitchen.

That's quite cool! It's unfortunate that they didn't understand the grammar very well though. rido.gif

Now I want (real) Esperanto fridge magnets. I wonder if anyone makes them...

The ungrammatical stuff isn't very troubling for me because they're supposed to be... poetry refrigerator magnets. I've seen some "poetry" using English refrigerator magnets, and some of that was pretty ungrammatical as well. I mean, with refrigerator magnets you make do with what you've got!

Although I seem to remember that the first line was something like "Mi parolas esperanton". The accusative case isn't actually something I'd expect to see in a refrigerator magnet!

Nevertheless, I think it's pretty cool that they chose to associate Esperanto with "urbane sophistication".

If I can get E-o magnets made, would anyone be interested in them?

Depending on the price, yes, definitely. The closest I've been able to find is printer friendly sheets of blank magnet at Amazon.
