No, Google Translate does recognise Esperanto, and pretty accurately too, but it cannot translate it.

I guess it's just my Google Chrome plugin for Google Translate that doesn't recognize it.

Usually it suggests that I translate the page into English from Italian or Croatian, when I navigate to an Esperanto page.

erinja:Any word ending in -aj is likely Esperanto, and even more so -ajn. Likewise with -oj and -ojn.

Google Translate most often assumes Esperanto is a slavic language, perhaps because of the frequent J's, and the placement of those J's.
I had to laugh, even though your correct, I'm taking Spanish and the Spanish word for "watch" or "clock" is el reloj. Silent J, though.

Yes. In fact, we pronounce reloj in this way: reloĥ, with the stress on the o, and a strong sound on the r, as in rocket.

I was just about to say that I guess it depends on where you're from, but I've definitely heard it pronounced. It seems that in Spain you hear the J come through more strongly than in Latin America, though.

Mia reloj rulis sur la reloj kaj la treno venas.

Why the watch can roll, I have no idea. Maybe its a pocket watch lango.gif

I as an Esperantist learning Spanish naturally have problems reading out loud the word reloj because this OJ-ending is something so typical for Esperanto that I immediately forget that J is Ĥ in Spanish. malgajo.gif
