This was already posted in another forum in esperanto so I thought I would mention it here for maximum exposure.

Change.org is sponsoring an idea contest where the winners of the contest will be presented before the media and members of Obama's administration. Additionally, Change.org will spend it's resources promoting the ideas that win. You can read full details of the contest here: FAQ

Anyway, the (currently) top idea in the Education category is to add Esperanto as a language course in schools. You can vote for the idea here: Esperanto in schools

Have no fear. I've seen it everywhere on the internet. (At least, where Esperanto is concerned) It is getting around.

As an aside, I don't wanna sound too negative and I did vote in favor of this. But in all honesty, does anyone really believe this is going to go somewhere? With the problems the President is facing with the economy, health care, etc...

My friend has been unemployed for over a year. His government benefits are getting ready to end and he cannot find work. When this happens, he will probably be thrown into the street. Whether or not his son learns Esperanto in school is nowhere near the forefront of his current concerns. If Obama focuses on ANYTHING other than these issues right now, people like my friend will start a revolt.

According to Change.org

467 Votes Voted!

Obama, introduce Esperanto as a Second Language subject in schools.

This idea is currently in 25th Place and needs 417 more votes to be one of the 10 winning ideas.

VOTE SOME MORE!!! ITS A BRILLIANT IDEA!!

It can stimulate interest in other languages and its FUN!!
