It isn't what you asked for, but a good online source of Esperanto news is Libera Folio. It's Esperanto news in every sense of the word - mostly news of happenings in the Esperanto movement. But it's well-written and it's a good window into the Esperanto-speaking community, which you won't find elsewhere.
May I also suggest this collection of links, which is very useful to a beginner. It's written in English, and has links to all kinds of Esperanto resources, including news sites (bottom of the page), podcasts, grammar references, places to download books and literature, and more. It even has some sites that I had never heard of before, so it has something to offer to experienced speakers as well.
