Please note that when I said that dictionaries don't have example sentences, I was talking about vocabulary examples. So, for example, the dictionary entry for "dog" wouldn't include an example of how to use the word "dog".

However, if you want sentence examples for grammatical concepts, you can find that in the Wells dictionary. The Wells has a grammar guide in the beginning that I found extremely useful as a beginner. I strongly recommend it.

For sentences with grammar, I also recommend "Being Colloquial in Esperanto", which also has many examples for grammatical concepts (but not for vocabulary).

My pre-ordered copy of the hardback edition arrived today. It was shipped from the Ulrich Becker Co. of New York and was shipped by UPS rather than slow mail. Since I live in a rural area in southwestern Mississippi, maybe some of you who live in larger cities will have also received it by now.

I have a favorable impression of it from just glancing through it but it does have a different 'look' than the original edition has. Being a hardback, it is certainly going to be more durable than the paperback.

I got my copy the other day and, although I do not have any other dictionary to compare it to, I find it a great resource. This is the first Esperanto dictionary I have found (I have been looking online) that has the word "Awesome" in it.
All in all I'm really glad I bought it.

jawq, I wonder if you got yours sooner because it was printed in Memphis, which is geographically closer to your small town than to my city!

The dictionary also had a print date inside, one one of the last couple of pages, as I recall.

The grammar section is definitely different from the grammar section in the old Wells. It was missing some of the grammatical examples that I found so useful as a beginner, but it had expanded the section on pronunciation and word order, which is also helpful.

I was also a bit sorry to see that there was no longer a long list of all of the official suffixes in the front, with examples of words formed using those suffixes. I found that ever so helpful as a beginner, to help guide me in choosing the right suffix for my root.

However, excellent coverage of modern speech, including colloquialisms (as kojotulo mentioned).

I was a little disappointed to see that passover was still translated as 'pasko' or 'juda pasko' rather than 'pesaĥo'!
