Hello all,

Well, I haven't figured out how to search through a forum, so I'm probably asking what's already in it. Forgive me, please!

I need to figure out how to interject the special characters from the Esperanto alphabet into, say, a Word doc or even here. I've read though the Help Page about Special Characters, but there are two problems I'm facing: 1) I can't figure out how to install EK — the referred website is in Esperanto, and I can't read it yet (sigh!) — and 2) I do not have "Multilingual support" showing under Windows Setup in Add-Remove Programs, as noted in the Help Document (I use XP. Is that the problem?).

So what is the easiest way to get this problem taken care of?

Thanks so much,

Keith

Saluton!

To search in the forum, use the box in the upper right hand of this screen. To create accented characters in the message editor, just use the x-system and press the sx/s button above the typing box to effect the conversion.

Word can itself allow you to create special codes (e.g. Alt plus c, or other key combination, for ĉ). From the Word menu bar select Insert/Symbol/Shortcut Key and then you can create the shortcut that you wish.

In general you can use the Melbourne notepad to convert a text and then copy and paste the result wherever you wish.

I don't know about EK or similar packages, so I'll leave that to others.

Someone in the JEB (British Esperanto Youth) has posted English-language instructions for installing and using Ek!

The website is here.

I know this is an old thread, but I have been playing with abcTajpu. It is an extension for Firefox that offers full support for hatted esperanto characters with both a keyboard pop-up and with an in-text pop-up menu. It works really well.
