Li amas lin. (He loves him.)
Li amas sin. (He loves himself.)
It's not used for other pronouns, because they don't have the dilemma of determining whether the objective pronoun is referring to one's self or someone else. But, nonetheless, wouldn't it make more sense and be more consistent to just have si the reflexive pronoun for all pronouns?

Frankouche:If you learn and use Esperanto more often, you will get this yourself. Personally I do sometimes use verb-subject-object or verb-object-subject order when IRC chatting in Esperanto, which wouldn't be possible in German.darkweasel:I still can't understand or can't say rapidly the first sentence.
La katon mordas la hundo.
La kato estas mordata de la hundo.
Now if you want to be understood easily, what wording do you choose?
From my native language, i didn't get the neuron to put the object before the subject !

darkweasel:Personally I do sometimes use verb-subject-object or verb-object-subject order when IRC chatting in Esperanto, which wouldn't be possible in German.I prefer to speak or write the most simple as i can, so i usually use the order SVO.
If other locutor speak in a different order, i will certainly make an effort, by politness, but it will be harder to communicate...

EDIT: Oh, and a little help from our more experienced lingvamikoj.
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mmm,I get high with a little help from my friends,
Mmm, I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends.
