Saluton

I did not anyone have posted the question before, as the lernu has no search facilities yet. If there is, please pardon me.

Just wondering, the 'do' verb does exsit in esperanto language ? Too many verb to remember in english ridulo.gif

May I know this sentence is correct:

Mi estas maljuna virino.

No N is added to the object noun and adjective. If it is correct, may I say that all object noun after the estas (be verb) will be remained as the subject form ?

Li estas juna instruisto.

Sxi estas kantistino.

Ili estas viroj.

Gxis

Technically. It's complicated though - if you mean "do/make", then there's "fari", if you mean "do/act", then there's "agi", but the usage of "do" in English is completely different to Esperanto - Esperanto uses it's "do" words more like a romance language, where as English uses it's "do" words more like a Celtic language, which are more analytical.

That's the hardest thing about a romance speaker learning a germanic language and a germanic speaker learning a romance language - so many new words to learn! rideto.gif

If you wanted to say "I am a young woman", that is correct.

Nope, if she did really mean to say "I am a young woman", that's wrong, because of "MALjuna" (old). okulumo.gif

A "direct object" of the verbs ESTI or IĜI is defined as a predicate, and predicates adopt the nominative case in Eo. Because of this, the word order is constrained.

For a bit more clarification, a predicate is everything other than the subject (aka the compliment to the subject) in a normal sentence, but because these are copulae (linking verbs). The precise name is "predicate nominal" (predicate noun) or predicate adjective in this context.

Wikipedia's page on it for the linguistically curious
