- Does "iru trans la straton" = go to the other side of the street? I said "iru en la straton" (go into the street) after being fooled by that accusative into thinking it was a trick question
- Why is it "ĝi estas 100 kilometrojn for de ĉi tie"? What does the accusative do there? (EDIT: Never mind this one, just read the grammar and found out -n works like je here)
- "Mi subtenas vin kiel kanditaton" - once again, what is the accusative here for?
I must admit this one took me by total surprise - I was expecting the comrehension to thrash me around like a rag doll yet in the end I slipped over on a banana peal

ceigered:Because the 100 kilometers suffer of "being acceded" by the "ĝi-placeholder" like pedestrians feet, car wheels, road trains wheels, tiger snakes belly k.t.p. This "ĝin" information is valuable for the akkusative objects pedistrians, car driver, road train driver, funny animals crossing dangerous highways (=ili)

Kandidaton needs the accusative, because without it, the candidate would be part of the subject, i.e. you would be the candidate: Mi subtenas vin kiel kandidato = Mi kiel kandidato subtenas vin.

Mi subtenas vin kiel kanditato = I support you, in the way candidates support people (probably a useless idea)
Mi subtenas vin kiel kanditaton = I support you as a candidate (you are the candidate, not me)

.It looks like I must begin to think more clearly about what I'm writing (e.g. Go to the other side of the street instead of "Go across the street", it is X kilometres (as a measurement, not because it literally consists of X kilometres), and grammatical case in "kiel" adjective clauses (well, I'm not sure if kiel is a true adjective clause, but it is now for the sake of easy terminology)).

"As a candidate, I support you!" (politicians all want us to think that they will fight for us personally, because they want us to vote for them)
