Akwino:something nice and right-wing that bans the slightest whiff of leftismI must admit that "Generalissimo Akwino" has a certain appeal. Can we agree to split the royalties on the book with the same title?

Evildela:This is a hypothetical question:Haha, isn't the Prague manisfesto already clearly said that Esperanto is a IAL and is protecting the mother tongue languages. People would not speak mono lingo, at least two, one mother tongue and one perhaps, eo
If a country suddenly formed tomorrow in which one of the offical languages spoken became Esperanto, would you move there?
I'm curious to see what people think.

biguglydave:What kind of government structure do you propose? How could it be a democratic system with a dogmatic and unchangeable fundamento ?
But, i will, heroically, resist to this "lingvocracy"

Any country which adopted E-o as one of several primary languages would find Esperanto doctrine quite rigid compared to its political doctrine. The pressure to maintain the status quo in both would be enormous.
This assumes, of course, that none of the inhabitants are sufficiently intelligent to treat Esperanto and politics in a different way. I think that they have a chance to make it work.
By the way, I don't see any reason why Esperanto couldn't become a majority language. Although its doctrine states a preference for IAL, I see no restrictions to becoming a majority language. If I've missed something, and there is some kind of philosophical restriction, then let's just do it anyway, again, somewhere in a tropical climate.

I wrote "one of the official languages" Anyways the Prague manifesto hasn't stopped over a thousand Denaskuloj being born and who’s to say one day there won't be a community of sole Esperanto speakers. For instance I learning Esperanto because its logical language, not because of any greater ideal.

Anyway, I'm with Roberto, Banana-respubliko ftw
(I'm pretty sure the nonacquainted would easily mistake "Esperanto" for a banana republic anyway! ).
