Honestly, I think that the Esperanto community is one of the most helpful and encouraging communities I have encountered. Generally speaking, not saying that every single Esperantist is like this. There are a lot of resources available for anyone who wants help with learning, there are texts to read, there are interesting people to talk to, there is music to listen to, and events to attend. If someone is unable to get motivated, even with all of those things, then I think that Esperanto is not the right hobby for that person, and that maybe something else would be more to their taste.

I will be encouraging to the end but if someone isn't enjoying Esperanto very much, even after people have informed this person of all of the resources they can take advantage of, then I don't think it's worth pushing the point. This person may enjoy spending their time doing something else instead. (I'm not referring to Talisman in particular, I'm only speaking generally)
