Evildela:I think my biggest problem is I'll hear a word and for some reason I just don't associate it with the written form. but if you write that same word I know instantly what’s being talked about. I've just started that Mi estas komencanto and I'm half way through and recognised nearly everything they say first time so starting to get excited >.<Ha, the voices are that ones of the speakers of www.radioverda.com, isn't?
The person im meeting says they are fluent in the language so at least I'll be hearing it spoken properly!

Mazi en Gondolandia on Youtube will allow you to see a situational context, see the word or sentence written on the screen, and hear the same words spoken in Esperanto. It's simple, easy to understand, and entertaining. It also has a lot of content that's usable for beginning 'getting-to-know-you' types of conversations.
Pasporto Al La Tuta Monda Is another beginning instructional video that will help you recognize spoken words and allow you to see the social context in which they are spoken. It also is easy, entertaining, and even humorous. My suggestion is to ignore the advice at the beginning of the video to "read the instructional book first before viewing this video."
Also, listen to music in Esperanto. Listening to music is a pleasant, easy way to learn and practice. You will hear words and phrases repeated again and again, and you will gradually recognize words. You will also gradually understand previously unknown words because of their context, or because you will begin to understand their prefix, root, and suffix components. For me, more than any other type of content or input, listening to music in a language makes me think in that language.
Lernu's very own Qwerty has made a valuable resource by making videos with song lyrics (words) to Esperanto songs. Hear the words while you read the words!

I'm also still try to find a way to express the sung pronouncation without hacking the words with that "...."* Maybe it will possible with some other presentation. I.e. with that spectrum mode (Aegisub) or simple this one. But probably I will only add two-lined non-hacked lines on the bottom like seen at the Schody video. This way it would also be possible to create 5 synchron running language versions of the same song at the same time. It's really funny to see like really everybody looks excited at the screen. Either singing or reading. Very interesting.
*Edit: Or should I replace that ".." with "~~" ones? Hhm.

I found your videos a long time ago, before I used the lernu forums, when I was first researching Esperanto and wanted to know what Esperanto sounded like. So your videos helped me decide to begin to learn Esperanto.
And a big thanks to all the Esperanto musicians who are making some very good and very professional sounding music, especially the contemporary/pop music!

AnFu:This self-created (karaokeo) music videos were also my entry into E-o. Most e-o songs I tried to sing first I didn't understand what I excactly sang. AnFu:Well, there's a lot of e-o music out but especially the contemporary/pop music is very limited (compared to other languages). A lot of - or better the most - contemporary/pop music styles are not or very thin e-o covered. I also noticed that even the e-o community don't knows their excisting contemporary/pop music very well. For excample, I assume that EstasElke's two e-o songs should not very well known.
And a big thanks to all the Esperanto musicians who are making some very good and very professional sounding music, especially the contemporary/pop music!
Yes, sure, there are classics like i.e. Sola but, it could be much more. E-o karaoke/sing-along songs can improve that situation means can motivate contemporary/pop musicans to bring their experiences into Esperanto world.

I spent about 5-6 hours yesterday speaking purely Esperanto with several people. One had emigrated from Russia and was fluent in Esperanto, his wife and child also spoke some Esperanto. Also a fluent Korean and her husband, and a couple of other Aussie guys. There was also an elderly French couple who seemed to be komencantoj. It was very enjoyable and I found that I was able to understand about 80% of what was being said at all times, and I just filled in the blanks.
Its quite shocking how fast you start to just understand what's being said rather then trying to translate it.
Anyways that’s my story so far.
