Bona Espero, an Esperantist orphanage, was struck by a fire in the third week of September. The fire burned down 90% of the orphanage territory but didn't reach the main building.

UEA President, Mr Probal Dasgupta, wrote an open letter to the Esperanto community:

Mi skribas al tiu ĉi listo kun la espero, ke iuj el vi - kiuj jam konas la projekton Bona Espero kaj scias pri ia profunda valoro por la bonfarto de Esperanto kiel ideo en la reala mondo kaj pri la ŝvito de sindonaj homoj el la tuta esperantista mondo konstruinta kaj savtenanta tiun ĉi unikan kunlaborejon - tuj faros financajn aŭ aliajn materiajn kontribuojn, se vi ne jam proponis aŭ sendis ion al Ursula, Giuseppe kaj ilia granda familio.

I am writing to the people on this list with the hope that some of you, who knows the project Bona Espero and understand the great value associated with philanthropic deed done in Esperanto, as an idea in this realistic world, and the effort of selfless persons from the whole Esperanto world who built and supported this unique project. Please contribute financially or with other materials right away, if you haven't yet suggested or given something to Ursula, Giuseppe and their big family.
