shortly I browsed through some video/audio documents of DG Interpretation again to build up an own opinion what chances E-o could have to get bridge language in EU nearby English of course. The whole EU experiment is still not at it's finished shape. So, until now bridge language dissussion isn't finished. Just take a hear of the technical briefing below. The next years some of labour law liberalization will happen in EU. In my opinion that will enforce some important citizen relocation inside EU and maybe some more strong demand for a working bridge language. I.e. Starting next year in May (?) East-European EU-citizens will be capable to make a job aggreement without any limits in Germany. The salary polarity between East- and Western Europe is still very different. Also, there are still some strong labour associations in Europe which will hopefully not make passport-nationality trench warfare against each other but more suggestions what EU wide labour laws could work. In my opinion EU will grow to some European superstate and passport-nationality-borders will blur. It's now an economic thing. I.e. Blown-up Inner-EU cellphone roaming rates are attacked by EU authoritives k.t.p.

Some talk about "... interpretation machinery which allows to proceed the decision making process in EU properly..." Technical briefing (45 minutes) from this source. Someone can find it oneselves searching advanced search with the keywords " Is English becoming rare language ". (But someone has to register to hear/download the regarding mp3.)
