I'm looking through the Esperanto-based forums, and while I can understand a decent amount of it, it doesn't seem like the best place to try what I've learned. Is there a place I can go to talk with other beginners, or to talk to some more advanced speakers who are willing to help a beginner practice?

The forums are the best place. Do not be afraid to post in them, even if what you are posting is simple and most likely wrong.

Seriously. The forums are here to help you get better, even if you are just starting out.

It's true that many of the threads there are at an intermediate or advanced level. Don't worry about that. We are allowed to also have threads there that are at a basic level. Anyone who doesn't want to read those threads doesn't have to. But I practically guarantee that you will find people who are just fine with basic level threads.

Just be sure to bring English questions here. The Esperanto forums are for Esperanto only, and people WILL get a bit cranky about non-Esperanto appearing there. But questions in English are what THIS forum is for, after all.

I'm beginning also. Learned quite a bit in such short time. I'll chat with anyone, here or on skype. Just let me know. i'll chat about many a topic whilst using an esperanto dictionary to help out.

I don't have a Skype, though I'm planning on making one later. I'll definitely Skype with other people if they want, but I'm much more available for text chatting as opposed to voice chatting. Acobjum or anyone else, do you want to maybe talk somewhere? I wouldn't mind doing it through PM even.

Other than messaging here, I'm just dipping my toe into Skype for Esperanto practice. I am witeowlk.esperanto there. (Someone already took witeowl. The nerve!)

Most of the time on skype I'm type/chatting with people anyway (usually they don't have cam/mic). I can also be contacted through PM here as well.

Just added you by the way witeowl.

Alright then, I'll make a Skype tonight when I get home. I didn't realize people were text-chatting on there, but that sounds pretty good!
