Sunjo:maybe it wasn't on the Esperanto-island?This was definitely on the main Esperanto island (the sock-shaped island, I call it). The English-speaking character I met arrived by galleon. (And there I am with my loin-cloth and bone club). Actually, he spoke Swedish, Spanish, and English, and had a companion that spoke Swedish. He didn't hang around long after he figured out that we didn't have any languages in common, so I don't know what his story is. There didn't happen to be any dictionary notes on the ground in this particular place when this happened unfortunately.

It's not hard to see how Swedish and Spanish players would come in contact with Esperantists given the geography, and in fact my Esperanto characters have found a number of Swedish-language maps laying around. What's weird to me is that this guy could speak English. I think he must be a Swedish player who found a Swedish-English dictionary note somewhere during his travels. Either that or he was a LONG way from home.

maybe it was a swedish player who did not care about the language learning rule
