On a lighter note, the power of beer and satire may attract people to Esperanto. rido.gif

As a new comer to the site and a beginner in this language, I wonder whether the forum think that an increase in the number of speakers is always to be desired or worth doing things for, even at the cost of compromising the ideological homogeneity of this group. I have been thinking that in the future possible scenario where the majority of competent users may have forgotten or even betrayed the original spirit of the founding fathers, it would still make sense to promote Esperanto as a second language for the world for these reasons:
1.It is the easiest to learn.
2.International organisations would cost the taxpayers less money.
3.For true linguistic democracy, everyone should make an effort. The politicians who represent us at the EU, for example, surely are people with intelligence above average whose CV, amongst other things, could include fluency in Esperanto.
To really become a very attractive learning option, Esperanto should be, as a first objective, one of the official languages of the EU/ UN.
Thank you all for the interesting things posted.

Best wishes,
Kursivo
