Hello everyone!

In here I am william and in Dua Vivo, I am Fuzzywuzzy Wrigglesworth.

I would like to meet all Esperant-subtenantojn!

I just started messing around with it last weekend. I've been to Esperantoland a couple of times - it's pretty good.

I don't know how often I'll actually start Second Life up, but if and when I do my name there is Skatcxjo Nightfire.

It would be great if some kind of Esperantujo place was created. Or maybe.. an online version of Amikejo?

(Sorry for bumping this old thread lango.gif)

I have some questions concerning SL:

1. How long does it take before I get the registration e-mail? I just signed up, but haven't got it yet. I'm using Hotmail, and yes, I have checked my spam filter.
2. Are there still many lernu users "playing" this "game"?
3. What's the difference between Second Life and Teen Second Life?
4. And what's the thing with the last names? Does it really matter which one I pick?

Thanks in advance sal.gif

It's been quite some time ago, but I seem to remember that I got their e-mail almost immediately.

There is a fair number of esperanto speakers. Not necessarily they come from lernu, and honestly I never really ask ridulo.gif
3. What's the difference between Second Life and Teen Second Life?
I have no idea. Never heard of the latter.
4. And what's the thing with the last names? Does it really matter which one I pick?
Quite simply, you can't make up your last name, you have to choose from a list. I don't know the exact reasons for this (perhaps linden labs was worried that users might pick famous last names, or they wanted to create "relatives"... I have no idea, really). They do not confer any advantages, if that's what you mean.

I recently signed up with Second Life and have been exploring quite a bit, especially over the weekend.
However, it seemed that no matter where I went, the place was empty. There was a lot of traffic in the main welcome area and in the "free money" areas, but places like churches I visited and even the Esperanto centers I visited were all empty. I seemed to be able to float through miles of city without seeing more than one other person. And not just in certain areas, but it seemed to be the case no matter where I went. Even the "most popular" locations just seemed to be the "free money" areas.
Was I doing something wrong? What am I missing?

Most places in Second Life are empty (or nearly empty), as you describe. It is a ton of land.

I find that there tend to be more people around themed areas speaking a certain language. One of SL's several Venices always seems to have a healthy group of Italian speakers, I have visited French and Dutch-speaking areas that had groups of people speaking those languages.

I signed up a long time ago, but my computer got fried, and I need to replace it and reinstall SL. I'm Lupus Oxbar, and I'll be back on sooner or later. Assuming, of course, that I can get back my free account.
