What's the hardest thing you find to learn in Esperanto?

For me, it's currently the pronunciation of C. Especially when used together with S, like scii and scienco.

Actually, sc combos are still hard for me, I find it best not to even think about pronouncing it when I say something and it (generally) turns out OK.

I would rather speak in terms of the hardest tasks using the language. Speaking is the most challenging, because you have to find the right words immediately. Those people who slow down are wise, both because they speak more clearly, and it is easier for them to find the right words.

OK as an exercise, in Esperanto;
Mi preferas paroli pri la plej malfacilaj taskoj uzante la lingvon. Parolado estas la plej defia, ĉar oni devas trovi la ĝustajn vortojn tuj. Tiuj, kiuj malrapidiĝas estas saĝaj, ĉar ili parolas pli klare, kaj tiel estas pli facile por ili trovi la ĝustajn vortojn.

Now saying that would be tougher, because I couldn't go back and correct my sentences (as I did, writing this). They would have to be right first time!

Remembering new roots, which leads to another predicament: inability to express my point exactly. I'm into creating words, but when I stumble upon certain concepts, I don't know what Esperanto root to use. Sigh.

Verb transitivity (transitiveness?).........drives me crazy.

But then I remember Russian does the same thing (e.g. a concert can't nachinayet, it must nachinayetsya) and I had little trouble with it there, so it should not be so much here, either.

What was the biggest surprise you received in your life?

Whatever is was, if you can say "the biggest surprise I received was...", then you have already spoken a sound closely similar to that of "sc".

The hardest thing for me is remembering whether a word that I'm considering actually exists in Esperanto, or is an illegitimate import from English. There are so many cognates or near-cognates of English words in Esperanto that it's easy to think a word is Esperanto when it isn't.

For example, I once used redunda in a forum in "Ĝangalo" (remember "Ĝangalo"?) and was promptly told there was no such word. I was going for "redundant", of course, and ReVo actually lists redunda, but my older PIV doesn't. Since then, I avoid it, and use superflua or balasta instead.

I don't have trouble with the 'sc' in scias, but I've never liked the word, aesthetically.

To keep motivation awake without overwhelming offer of "contemporary" E-o music. I.e. Hip Hop, Ska, Reggae, Crossover, Indepedent etc.
