targanook:I started with esperanto yesterday and look:Please stay fair. What do you think if somebody would say to you: "The days of Polish are counted."? English also is a language of lot's of open-minded English native speakers which are not responsible for the current bridge-language state of English.

targanook:I started with esperanto yesterday and look:Gratulon! You are making good progress. I don't know which courses you've chosen, but I recommend Ana Pana, as this includes help from a tutor.

qwertz:Due to my poor knowledge of English you did not understand my intention - I ment "English as a world language" - it's simply too difficult to be learned by everybody on this world. Polish language has nothing to do with this - it is not international and it is 10 times much harder than English. English is very good for the English as Polish is very good for the Polish. The outsiders have hard time to master these languages though... Poor people have no resources to learn English good, to become an equal. One has to devote many years to study the language, and even after all that sacrifice he speaks English mauch worse then a native speaker. Esperanto, as I see it, is much better here. It's easy, yet expessive. I have to study it more, but I see right know that I'm going to like it...targanook:I started with esperanto yesterday and look:Please stay fair. targanook:I started with esperanto yesterday and look:Nice! If not brilliant for a 1-dayer! Do you sir have a knack for this thing, given your decent use of adverbs and "per"?

(Alas, I must disagree that English's days are counted solely because you're acing Esperanto, but rather than Esperanto's future is looking a bit brighter!)
Danielcg:Because the most powerful nations nowadays have English as their language, and so they can force the rest of the world to do 100 % of the effort while they do 0 %, instead of everyone doing about a 10 % of the effort. (BTW, this makes native English speakers' esperantism much more worth of praise). Not so much "forcing" as the world willingly accepting it. The most powerful nations will generally always be sought after for their secrets at being so powerful and lovely etc, as you've made a point with in regards to Madagascar.
I'm all for Malagasy becoming the world language though, it's rather closely related to Indonesian for a language a continent away! (e.g. "tanana" (tanga in west) = "tangan" in Indonesian, all = "hand"). Ergo I feel I might have a small heard start)

But what Esperanto can do is foster friendly relationships and contacts between people in different countries, and an atmosphere of respect for people of other nationalities, and who speak other languages. On a personal level it is enormously fulfilling to be sat round a table with a bunch of people from all over the world who would never be able to communicate the way they can with Esperanto, if they didn't have an easily learnable common language.
At present, and for the foreseeable future, this involves getting involved in an Esperanto organisation, or at least coming along to their international congresses. The more people that do this, the more useful Esperanto becomes for those who know it.

targanook:Sorry, that was my mistake. I feel blaming of the English language very annoying. It's quite common at several lernu.net forums. You obviously can communicate very well in English. And right now you use it for international communciation as an bridge language, isn't? Why to stay at solely that onliest bridge language (i.e. Esperanto, English) and not let stay several bridge languages around? Esperanto can bridge, English, too.qwertz:Due to my poor knowledge of English you did not understand my intention - I ment "English as a world language" - it's simply too difficult to be learned by everybody on this world. targanook:Yes, I got that point. Esperanto is a constructed language which doesn't carry that much historical ballast (historical grammar irregularities etc.) like natural languages with it. That's the nature of constructed languages. So of course Esperanto seems to be much more easier to learn than natural languages. But in my opinion English will remain one of several bridge languages for measurable next time.

paulopolo:I just peeped in here by coincidence. Targanook, you started the same thread in polish forum. When you compare threads it's extremely funny, isn't it?Now you mentioned the parallel thread: What way went/goes the discussion at the Polish pl.lernu.net section compared to this one?
Ĥo! Ĥo! !
Thanks for information.
