I always fancy TED programmeswhich bring in many new ideas.

Just wondering the esperantists can do one of this kind of programmes, this would certainly inspire more people to learn Esperanto as they wanted to know what the content is about and also provides a platform for the Esperantists to exchange views.

It can be done in many places in the world and upload it on the net.

Just keeping my fingers crossed to see the Esperanto TED.

I love the TED conferences, and having one in or about Esperanto would be interesting. Has anyone tried to do that? It seems like a pretty open-minded group so I can't imagine it would be difficult.

Yes, that would be great.

TED talks (E-o subtiteled)

In spite of the pretentiousness about them, I like TED talks too. An Esperanto version would be great.

The irony being that they address that in their FAQ (pretentiousness/elitism).

Ya, i read about it, that they have 50 langagues translated.

Why not do the esperanto version and let the other 50 to translate from eo to others ?

They need 50 dedicated and reliable EO-otherlanguage translators to do that, and it's not easy when EO has such a small language group of relatively young age full of predominately non-native speakers. The preferance is to translate something into someone's language in a way that seems very natural to the reader/listener as if it was originally made in their own language, and for people who don't know much about EO, that seems very hard to do.

There already was the Internacia Seminario, which was mainly filled with talks by participants related to the overall theme of the week. It's now merged to become JES, but there are still a lot of talks, courses and workshops.

I think you missed the point Ro. TED and internacia seminario are two different items.

Do think about it why TED is popular ? Because they have the translators or the programmes are good ?

If the programmes are good, more poeple would learn Esperanto in order to understand it. If you agreed that Esperanto is an easy language to learn and be able to understand the speech after 6 months of learning. Thus there need no translators at all.

On the other hand, the esperanto speakers will be on the rise rido.gif
