Not certain if this constitutes spam, but a friend and I run a Minecraft server and I'd really love to get some Esperanto speakers playing in it. I see it as a chance to practice while doing something fun and work on some community builds. Would anyone be interested in such a thing?

Bonege!

I have made a post on this before with no success. I am an admin on one of the larger servers, http://www.minetown.net/, and even went so far as to make a city with bilingual signs!

However, not one Esperantist joined me, and unfortunately because of my duties as administrator I will remain there.

However, I will visit your server occasionally- perhaps we could build the first Esperanta civilization!

Good luck!

Why not join forces? You'd get more people into the same Esperanto city no doubt?

(BTW, since I don't actually own the game and have never had a chance to see these big servers, what are the cities like? I know that you sort of spawn in the same location every time on single player, what happens in multiplayer? Do you have a central "spawn hub" and have roads going to the EO city? And have you got buildings made of wood/stone with windows and rooms etc? I'm thinking about getting this game because from what I got to play, I was like "wow I'm a genius architect!", and I'd love to see what happens if you get say 10 people all thinking the same thing and let them build something!)

I play Minecraft. I love this game, it's a real drug.

Yes, there is a central spawn city on my server, and the EO city (named Espero) is a bit far off, but we have installed warps so that players can simply type "/warp espero" and be placed at the entrance to the city.

The game is definitely worth it, but this may not work too well on my server- we have a $5 whitelist fee, and I would not like to keep this from happening by charging people.

As soon as I can I will be visiting the other server to see what we can do ridulo.gif

The warp idea sounds very good - is that like that warp to the nether thing I've read about or slightly different?
(and what's a whitelist fee?)

Next time I have some cash I might look into buying this game lango.gif

Haha, it is a plugin we added to our server, rather than a feature included by the developers- rather than building an obsidian gate such as the nether portal, you would just type "/warp espero" into the chatbox and poof, you are there ridulo.gif

A whitelist fee is a charge that they require before you are allowed to build... they did this in the hopes of keeping out troublemakers, which it does, but for every good person that pays the $5 we must lose two more good people. (although, it keeps away almost every vandal, I suppose)

Ah, so sort of like buying your builder's license? I must admit that idea would work but it'd make some servers rather exclusive, which probably wouldn't work in getting large populations of EOists to come by. Oh well!

Haha, I also play Minecraft, mostly by myself on single player. I was reading about Esperanto yesterday and started learning it today so mi estas komencanto de Esperanto ;D. I'll be glad to play with you guys when I have the time.

I have found the perfect server! One of our players is starting his own server and I have made sure that he will let Esperantists in for free (sed li ne parolas la intercian lingvon)!

Once it is up we should get a group together and build a virtual Esperantujo ridulo.gif

He will keep his server free for us forever, except for of course voluntary donations ridego.gif

Dankon!
