Mi estas Nez.

Sorry, that's all I have for now. I'm just starting to learn and I figured I would say hi to all the english speakers because I know I will be asking for help often. ^.^ I've tried to learn two lagauges already and both failed. I think the third time will be the charm.

I'm 21 and from Washington state on the rainy side. Inline skating and rescuing parrots are two of my hobbies.

Thanks for reading,
Nez

The only way you ever fail is to stop trying! You'll find a lot of people here who are very interested in language and eager to answer any questions you may have. Bonvenon al la mondo de Esperanto kaj bondeziron!

Hi, Nez! I've found that if meet up with Esperanto speakers and speak the language face-to-face with them - or, if that isn't possible, finding someone to learn the language with you - is a lot more helpful (and very helpful in convincing you to stick with it!) than just chugging along using the internet. Here's a list of local groups close to you.

I have a roommate that is learning with me, but he is also leaving at the end of this month.

Thank you so much for the group. I didn't even think to look for that.

Amen! Welcome to lernu.

On this website, there is a wide choice of courses for beginners, so feel free to try out different ones. For example, you might like to begin with Mi estas komencanto (" I am a beginner") or Bildoj kaj demandoj ("Pictures and questions") - a way of learning directly through pictures. If you like the idea of travelling, you might also enjoy Vojaĝu kun Zam.

At some point, though, I would definitely recommend Ana Pana, because it includes on-line tutorial help.

And now, I wish you bonan ŝancon!

Hello Nezumi I also live in Seattle on Beacon Hill. I've been learning the language for a little over a year now. I find it very easy to learn, and it helps you learn other languages faster (well that has been from my experience). There is actually a Seattle esperanto meetup group that meets up the first weekend of each month. I'm going to visit them for my first time this weekend. Hiyayaywhopee has linked there address. I find speaking what you've learned daily will help a lot versus just typing it on the internet. But, I wish you the best of luck and enjoy learning this awesome language!

Ĝis!
