aspektas vs. vestas

I'm studying things that 'look good' and noticed that vestas is used in a lot of sentences.
For example,

Your tie looks good.
Via kravato aspektas bone.

That red sweater looks good on you.
Tiu ruĝa pulovro bone vestas vin.

...but I see vestas as clothed, so I would interpret it as a good fit. For example, Tiu ruĝa pulovro bone vestas vin. - "That red sweater fits you well."

What is your take on this?

I see it as "that (thing) clothes you well/covers you in a good way", which in english would just be "suits you well", implying that the size, style and colouring compliments the person wearing the clothes.

A way of analysing it might be "that (thing) is good at being your clothes", but done so that the "your" part is expression with "you" being in the accusative, and that "good" is turned into an adverb to compliment the verb.

Dunno if it's a common or popularly accepted form though since I'm not knowledgeable in such.

How would you express if just a colour looked good on you?
For example, (The color) olive really suits you (perhaps talking about the colour of a shirt).

How would you express if just a colour looked good on you?

Mention the colour specifically (e.g. la ruĝa pulovro) or follow it up with more context? Or maybe drop the noun and say "la ruĝa"/"la ruĝeco"/"la ruĝo".

E.g. la ruĝo vestas vin bone = the colour red clothes you well = red clothes suit you

Looking at the definitions and examples in NPIV, 'vesti' seems to mean 'to clothe' or 'to dress in' with a metaphorical extension in the sense of 'to cover' (la neĝo vestis blanke la kamparon).

So I think 'via pulovero bone vestas vin' is a bit vague as to whether it is a good fit (strikte vestas) or it suits you.

I wouldn't say "vestas" with an adjective like "ruĝa". In that case I would say "Ruĝo aspektas bone sur vi" or "Ruĝo tre konvenas por vi" or perhaps "Ruĝo vere taŭgas por vi"

I'd use "vesti" in the case of looking good/bad only if I'm referring to the garment itself, not to aspects of the garment (color, fabric, etc)
