I was writing example sentences for my blog, and when I came across a particular one I wasn't entirely sure whether I was trying to translate a very English expression (like missing out "that" from "I think that you are silly") or whether it was natural. I wondered if someone could help me translate!

So the example is: They are the first to eat badgers.

My first idea was:

Ili estas la unuaj [personoj] manĝi melojn.

Is this structure fine? Or would this be better:

Ili estas la unuaj [personoj], ke manĝas melojn.

Or something else? If the expressions above are both fine, do they mean something different from eachother? Thanks!

If you are talking about a big cat or bird of prey, which is the first predator to hunt the unfortunate creatures come the season, that might be Ili estas la unuaj, kiuj manĝas la melojn. If you want to use "hunt" you could use ĉasas here.
