Hello all! I started learning Esperanto on the lernu! site last week. I tried out various courses, as recommended here. I really like Bildoj kaj demandoj and La puzlo Esperanto, and would like to continue those courses. I didn't really like Vojaĝu kun Zam that much.

My question is this: Would I miss any important grammar/vocabulary by not doing Vojaĝu and doing only the other two courses before going on to the basic courses (Ana Pana, etc.)?

Skip Vojaĝu kun Zam if you don't like it. I don't like it that much myself but some people love it. It's a matter of taste.

You don't have to follow the suggested order of those beginner courses. They repeat information between them, so if you do more than one, it's definitely useful as far as learning through repetition, but you won't miss anything by skipping one.

I would not skip Ana Pana, since it's corrected by a real person.

Do Puzlo and Bildoj, and then do Ana Pana. And if you don't feel like finishing Puzlo or Bildoj for some reason, if you want to stop them sometime in the middle and move to Ana Pana -- that's fine too, go ahead and do it.

Excellent. Thank you very much, erinja, for the fast reply!

I definitely plan on doing Ana Pana once I complete one of the beginning courses.

Welcome kujichagulia! sal.gif

I felt the exact same way when I started a few months ago. I loved 'bildoj kaj demandoj', but I still haven't managed to drag myself past the 5th lesson of 'vojagxu kun Zam' and I have no idea why.

All in all I've found it most effective to work on several different courses at a time guided more by my motivation and interest than some grand plan.

Now I am reading Esperanto books and loving every minute of it!

Gook luck,

Stefano.

Thank you, Stefano, for your post. I hope to also get to the point where I'm reading Esperanto books!
