So they'd probably not be happing with it being shared interrete sen permeso... Given they're a small EO group and I don't think free copies of kontakto would advertise them enough to make up for it

after all the magazine is made by people who contribute articles to help Esperanto culture grow not being restricted to a small club.

It's interesting, I wasn't even aware of a Esperanto magazine available. Wouldn't this be an excellent marketing strategy. Give away older issues incising people to subscribe to the latest. There are some very big magazines that do this in the UK.

Leke:Doesn't copyright law and file sharing depend on the country you are from and not the country the copyrighted material is from originally?Well, if we were to get into this, I'd argue copyright is just a set of arbitrary rules made to provide something between the illusion of protection and actual protection to the conceptual property of individuals who don't want their work ripped off, or don't want their livelihoods cut off by excessive unauthorised and free distribution, and each country has their own take on this.
It's interesting, I wasn't even aware of a Esperanto magazine available. Wouldn't this be an excellent marketing strategy. Give away older issues incising people to subscribe to the latest. There are some very big magazines that do this in the UK.
But what I do know is that A) there are countries where these things have been pursued before, B) some cases seem to have involved international action (e.g. an Australian sued by Nintendo) C) things can range from causing offence and being disliked, to ugly fines.
I doubt Esperantists are the type to take up arms over such things, but if they would get peaved over something like unauthorised torrents, I would prefer to hold a discussion with them over the subject than incur their wrath, not matter what intensity
.(My personal feelings: it's best if Kontakto is spread around the globe with details on how to subscribe, since that's fulfilling both demand and advertising, but only if the authors agree).

As for the idea of back issues, I agree, that'd be cool. I do know if you finish the first exam here, you get sent a free copy of one of these magazines/mini-journals. I got Monato I reckon... I'd consider subscribing to all sorts of things actually, like the Interlingua Panorama, and anything on Indo-European studies if I could find em, but oh well!

If you successfully pass an exam at lernu, you can receive a sample issue of an Esperanto magazine. Otherwise, if you want some copies of Kontakto, but are unable to pay for a subscription, please just post to this forum. Lots of people (including me) have old issues that we are not interested in hanging on to any longer. In the past I have mailed these issues to lernu users who have asked for them, and I am sure that I'm not the only lernu user who would do so.
Kontakto isn't some big money-making machine. Please respect their copyright. No one is getting rich off of Esperanto, and you are certainly not "sticking it to the man" by illegally copying Esperanto materials and distributing it online.
