Alas, Esperanto is still treated on par with things like UFO groups, but alas Esperanto's in mainstream media.

Don't knock Esperanto fans – they've got the right idea (while subsequently praising and knocking Esperanto fans).

*also, with regards to the title, I might add that the media still treats the UFO groups somewhat like a bunch of religious whackos, so while by the time you get to Esperanto you're only getting as much flack as the UN or some other great idea that hasn't lived up to the lofty dreams and expectations of those who are now knocking them around, it's still sorta sad how we have to treat anyone who uses their imagination and creativity in a way that isn't uber-mainstream. (To those I say "WELL AT LEAST OUR BRAINS ARE DEVELOPED AND WE DON'T RELY ON SHEEP-INSTINCT!")

Good stuff - maybe someone so inclined should add a comment that "freebie" is senkostaĵo.

I was thinking on the lines of senpagaĵo.

"senpaga bierego" would be better...

How about "senpaga fridbierego"? rido.gif

Actually, I guess that depends on where you come from. We Australians here rumours than in the UK and beyond, warm bear (or at least lukewarm beer) is the stuff to have, is that right?

You bet! It's important that during these cold wet summers that the beer warms you up!

Polish "zupa piwna" (beer soup) is the best. Our noblemen ate it in huge quantities and were strong like bears (after all "beer - bear" are not that different after a few bottles of beer).

(Re: one of the lines in the article), we don't do 'assertive outreach programmes' in Esperantujo; not enough money. We'd probably call it a bonfarada organizaĵo, or something along those lines, though. sal.gif

Under the article are some of the usual kind of way-too-emotional comments from one or two noisy anti-Esperanto uloj. One has to wonder why they get so hot under the collar about it. My guess is because the language failed to live up to the expectations they built up in their minds about it when they were young and idealistic and first heard about it, and are now 'heartbroken' by it and in ego-defence mode (attack being the best kind of defence), and have to justify giving up on it in a way that doesn't make them look like mere quitters.
