Chorus songs in Esperanto?

My daughter finished high school this year, and in her time there was involved in every musical ensemble that would fit her schedule. During those years I heard the school choir sing songs in many different languages when they performed: English, French, Spanish, German, "Chinese," (not sure which actual Ĉinia lingvo!) Russian, Latin and even Swahili. Does anyone know of any choral songs in Esperanto and where one would get the music and lyrics? The choir director is regularly on the lookout for different songs, and it would be a great way of introducing them to the language.

If I were you, I'd try to contact someone from Akordo. They sing folk songs and Esperanto madrigals. Alternately, you could find an esperanto translation of a well-known song and just get the music for that song, then put on the Esperanto words.

Nice links, Miland, thanks, I like that because I can share them with my Christian friends who still doubt that Esperanto is functionable in the religions despite many internet pages have shown to them.

Also excist one karaoke version: Ĉu vi pentas. If I remember correctly: At least the complete album "Muzikpluvo" contains chorus songs only.

You could also contact Flo ( Vinilkosmo ) who probably could you give dozen of hints where to find Esperanto chorus music.

there is also the Kora Sutro by Mr. Harrison, but that needs a gamelon, so it might not be feasible logistically.

I'm assuming gamelons are gamelans that have been coated with a layer of American orthography? rido.gif

I'm doing (beginnerish) gamelan music as an elective topic in my language studies at uni, and while I won't/can't go into detail (the "can't" won't be good for my marks haha), you can emulate the sound of a gamelan orchestra using other instruments, so long as the scale is emulated, and the way a gamelan orchestra is structured is also emulated. In fact, come to think of it, I think it was actually Lou Harrison who was discussed in class for using Gamelan influences in western music.
