Hello. I live in Russia. I have two daughters. The eldest daughter (14 years) learning English. I'm looking for an English family, who said the same in Esperanto. I would like to have family took my daughter to visit for 1-2 months in the summer, so shi was practiced in the English language. Instead, my family is ready to accept children from English-speaking families to ensure that they practiced in the Russian language. Details are in another forum thread ( http://eo.lernu.net/komunikado/forumo/temo.php?t=9... ).
I would be grateful if someone will respond.

geo63:I think that many lernu.net members would like to speak with her in English and Esperanto on Skype. It is not that difficult as to swap children over many borders. So, if there are any volunteers, please, sign in below...The thing is to put the girl inside a native enviroment. Of course, the girl can use skype but is not the girl who is asking practicing, is the father who is asking a better learning way for she.
Ĝis, Novatago.

novatago:The thing is to put the girl inside a native enviroment...Let us do not exaggerate. She is only 14 years old. In that age knowing English is not so important. She has plenty of time to learn it. No need to put her into English family.

ceigered:Sounds too risky to put a request like this out in the public. I reckon Skype in combination with a free course on the net (surely there's some?) would help in the meantime while you look for a well respected institution (e.g. one that works with schools/government) that can help set up an exchangeI was several times in Russia. At that time it was a strange country, really. Many Russians wanted to speak with me in English, though I made may point clear that I understood Russian good enough. You know, I learnt it at school for 15 years, he he, and I can say "Hello" in Russian!!! (I am not that stupid, we, Poles, deliberately sabotaged Russian lessons).

It's western thing too, with whatever language we do. I'd say its a world wide thing actually, but each region differs I guess.
But on the topic at hand, I just wouldn't want to send my child to a western country to teach them English unless I had reassurance they'd be safe from the govt/etc. I don't have a child though, and I'm just a paranoid ex-teenager, so I'm not really an authority on the subject .
