And why isn't it: Hari Poter kaj la Filozofia Ŝtono?

bglu0321:Okay, Hari Poter kaj la Ŝtono de la Saĝuloj? Why is it -oj if it's not regularly plural? I didn't read anything about that on the suffix page I read.Jes, mi konsentas. Estas stranga afero, kvankam vi eraris. La titolo, angle, estas "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", kiu, Esperante, estus "Hari Poter kaj la sxtono de la filozofisto".
And why isn't it: Hari Poter kaj la Filozofia Ŝtono?
"Hari Poter kaj la filozofia sxtono" signifus,
"Harry Potter and the philosphical stone".
Sed jes, eble iu devus demandi al la kreanto de tiu retpagxo pri la nomo de la libro.

bglu0321:Okay, Hari Poter kaj la Ŝtono de la Saĝuloj? Why is it -oj if it's not regularly plural? I didn't read anything about that on the suffix page I read. The title refers to ancient alchemists' belief in a stone that could turn base metals into gold. In some languages, including Finnish, Swedish, French and German, that hypothetical stone is called "the stone of the wise", literally, and Esperanto follows the model of those languages. Actually, there are two expressions in French, one of them meaning "the stone of the wise", the other "the philosophical stone" or something like that.
And why isn't it: Hari Poter kaj la Filozofia Ŝtono?
As Novico Dektri already pointed out, a literal translation would indeed be "la Ŝtono de la Filozofiisto" rather than "la Filozofia Ŝtono."
