The ID cards have gone through anyway, though, so obviously the petitions don't have such a huge impact.

erinja:Yep I signed it too, I have dual citizenship. They didn't say anywhere that you had to ever have had UK residency.

Damn, I'd sign it if I had my dual-citizenship (I'm half English half Australian, but I don't live with my biological father so it kinda complicates it).

I was born in the US (hence US citizenship) to a UK mother (hence UK citizenship).

ceigered, it's just an online petition anyway so I would just sign. No one's going to come knocking on your door asking for proof of citizenship lango.gif

However, if you want to learn something about your citizenship status or learn how things work, please contact me privately. The UK has one of the most complicated citizenship laws on the planet (a legacy of colonialism) and I learned quite a bit about it while researching my own citizenship status.

Cheers, will do sometime later ridulo.gif

OK I'll just sign the petition, considering the Queen of England is also the Queen of Australia.

EDIT: Well the petition's now closed anyway so there goes that idea.
