qwertz:You feel offended because I feel offended of situations you don't feel offended.
I don't think he was offended, I think he was giving friendly advice, like saying "Maybe it's best to not go looking for different ways to be offended, and to try and relate to comments differently".

That's how I understood it anyway, probably due to my anti-victimisation stance okulumo.gif

About Europe, in my opinion if Europe was to have another war or conflict of sorts, it'd be classified as a "civil unrest" at the most generous, a "terrorist/separatist/ultranationalist/neo-nazi movement" as the mostly likely title, or "civil war" at the worst. Doubt people would have imagined that as likely not so long ago.

Who knows, perhaps history has a turn around for Esperanto somewhere around the next corner.

Thanks, ceigered, for your efforts to relativize the matter. But I don't see any friendly advice at horsto's response. I also have to handle that extreme individualist's folks everyday offline at work. They only can battle to make free space for "his/her majesty outstanding opinions/beliefs. What, you're in doubt of that?". Can someones expect collegial team work with that folks? Forget it. First they try to clarify the responsiblities the whole day and 5 minutes before the end they try to solve the problem or try to blame somebody the responsibility card. What kind of childish Kindergarden behaviour. I'm really not "responsible" of their missing idolise "parents to child"- love. Anyway, that folks definitly are minority. But they solely torpedo the whole result driven communication process.

Pfff.

horsto:
qwertz:
But with my native language background I could receive that written "not worth of breath" expression something offending.
You are really looking everywhere for offenses.
Why I should take care of such an generalisation using a "You"-Baseball bat? "You always, everytime, since birth, doesn't understand my outstanding position inside that society, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, blub". I don't see any reason to give an friendly response to that. If somebody wants to battle, I also have the right to defend. Its basic communication principle: Wie es in den Wald hineinruft, so schallt es wieder zurück./ How it shouts into the forest, same way it comes/banged back again.

No comment to that. I only wanted to save this nonsence before qwertz decides to delete it.

Maybe you should do it one more again to get more sure. Someones never know.

Maybe this thread can be used as an explanation as to why Esperanto's a good idea:

"this way Germans don't have to have confusing arguments in English, freeing up more space for English speakers to have more confusing arguments of their own" rido.gif

Yes, these forums are not really the place for having individual discussions. We try to keep things polite.

If there is a poster whose messages annoy or offend you, please just ignore those posts. If you respond, the person who is annoying or offending you is likely to write even more messages, annoying both you and the entire forum.

Okay. Superrigardo / En la angla channel is over capacity. okulumo.gif

Even politness is relatively. Someones still has to clarify non-politeness.

Even if "ignorance" originally were not part of my upbringing I will try to do so next time. I see "ignorance" offending, too. If someones ignores somebody, the ignored person doesn't get any external feedback/chance to change its behaviour. It could be somewhat like serving someones egocentrism.

In English, we often use "ignore what they're saying" either in actual, proper ignorance, or to mean "listen to what they say and respond, but don't take it emotionally to heart, and ignore any offence you feel, just don't give into the temptation to escalate the situation" (you can rhyme that last bit if you want in a rapper's voice).

+1, this seems to be the only adequate strategy.

Thanks a lot, ceigered. "Proper ignorance" seems to fit into my cooperative (collegiality) beliefs. okulumo.gif
