I want to apologize again (A) for the misunderstanding we had and (B) for (partly because of me) the high-jacking of this thread. I want to return to your original question.
I, with the help of some friends of mine, invested some brainjuice into this question and this is conclusion we reached. I am not intending to say that this is the "correct" or "only viable" way to see this, but this approach helped me personally to understand this phenomenon.I'll have to think this through, but for now it's a "that's just the way Esperanto does it" thing to me.
