pdenisowski:I recently watched Attack of the Lunar Zombies (Atako de la lunaj zombioj) which has an Esperanto audio track. The fact that it was dubbed into Esperanto was the ONLY reason I watched it.
I believe the English title is "Attack of the Moon Zombies"

I saw it last summer. It was kind of fun at first but I think it could have done with cutting out around 20 minutes or so. It really dragged in the middle.

The same director will be releasing another movie dubbed in Esperanto, "House of Ghosts". I have it on good authority that the dub will be better this time (more attention to length of sentences, so that you don't have the audio continuing to talk when the person's mouth has stopped moving, and vice versa).

It's not quality cinema, of course, but it's fun in a "Mystery Science Theater 3000" sort of way.

Yes, of course : after watching it in Esperanto I had no interest at all in seeing it again in English ridulo.gif

When the rocket pilot started talking in monotone, heavily (American) accented Esperanto I thought "oh no" and then I realized (or at least I hoped) that maybe the annoying voice and bad accent were intentional.

Reminds me of when I listened to the Harry Potter audiobooks in German. Rita Skeeter (the nosy, annoying reporter) had a very strong American accent ...

I think that was intentional. I didn't see the movie in English but I saw a trailer, and I think that guy had a strong Southern (American) accent, sort of a "blue collar Southern" character, which I think got translated to annoying voice and bad accent in the Esperanto version.

I don't remember 100% who was credited as having voiced that character, but at any rate I recall that it was someone who normally speaks Esperanto with a good accent.

It's funny to me but I wonder if it's only funny to people familiar with the American "Got milk?" ad campaigns. I wonder if people unfamiliar with that ad campaign would find it confusing rather than funny.
That's what I was wondering too. It wouldn't really matter if it was specifically sold in American markets (like the Kafejo rido.gif ) but it may just be nonsense to non-American Esperantists. I guess I'll just have to see if I can get something made in time for NASK and I'll find out.
