Saluton mia Esperantaj amikoj.

I came across this in my studies today...

Are they going to come?
Yes, they are. / No, they aren't.

I originally wrote:
Cxu ili iras veni?
Jes, ili iras / Ne, ili ne iras.

...but then I thought, is this an English thing? Perhaps Esperanto doesn't use "going" in this way?

So, the other option would be to simply say...
Cxu ili venas?
Jes, ili venas / Ne, ili ne venas.

...or perhaps (and this is my bet)...
Cxu ili venos?
Jes, ili venos / Ne, ili ne venos.

Antaŭdankon.

Definitely the best option. rideto.gif

'Going to come' in English carries a nuance which may not be present in Esperanto's 'venos', but it is probably the most natural translation.

'Going to' may be concerned with intention or with prediction on the basis of current evidence.

You can of course express these ideas in Esperanto, if you want to.

Ĉu ili intencas veni/ decidis veni; ĉu verŝajne ili venos.
